Open Position at MHPC

SISSA and ICTP are currently searching for one outstanding and motivated candidate for the position of Assistant Program Coordinator. The succesfull candidate will be enrolled as staff members in the Master Program in HPC.

Description of duties:   

The Assistant Program Coordinator will be working in close collaboration with the Program Coordinator in the overall organization of the master.

The successful candidates will be expected to:

• collaborate with the rest of the staff of the Master Program and/or the ICTP/SISSA scientific staff on specific research projects and initiatives promoted within the Master;
• work closely with lecturers to prepare exercises, programs and tutorials;
• participate in supervision of Master's students and their general lab-related activities;
• collaborate with other staff members in maintaining the existing master's HPC services (HPC labs etc.. ) and proposing new/advanced ones.

Qualifications:             

• Experience with managing Linux servers
• Experience in compiling, installing and maintaining scientific software packages and libraries on HPC infrastructures
• Experience in parallel programming (MPI and/or OpenMP)
• Experience (basic) in software engineering techniques and tools (like, for instance, software revision systems, testing procedures etc..)
• Programming/scripting skills, ideally including Bash and Python
• Experience in using and supporting parallel or distributed computing architectures
• Experience in teaching/tutoring at university level and/or in international environment is a plus
• Fluency in English

The positions are offered for an initial period of 12 months, as “Assegno  di Ricerca” by SISSA-MHPC.  Appointments can be therefore extended upon mutual satisfaction, and can be a great opportunity for motivated people. The salary is competitive with European standards.
